THE ATHABASCA TRIBAL COUNCIL CULTURAL FESTIVAL WILL RETURN IN SEPTEMBER 2023 WITH PRESENTING PARTNER CENTERFIRE ENERGY GROUP

(Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo, AB, Treaty 8 – February 14, 2023) - The Athabasca Tribal Council (ATC) is excited to announce that the Indigenous-owned business Centerfire Energy Group (Centerfire) will be the presenting partner of the 2023 ATC Cultural Festival. The Festival will take place September 14-17 in Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo in Northern Alberta on Treaty 8 territory.  

“We are very excited to be working with Centerfire to celebrate the Cree and Déne cultures of the region. Our Indigenous community members are overjoyed to gather to share our traditional knowledge and skills,” said Chief Allan Adam, President of the Athabasca Tribal Council and Chief of the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation. “With Centerfire’s partnership, we will be able to create a unique Indigenous and fully immersive experience that everyone will want to share and be a part of.”

Centerfire’s Chief Operating Officer, Cam Wodham, shared, “As this festival fits seamlessly with Centerfire Energy Group’s core socioeconomic values, we are extremely humbled and privileged to have the opportunity to work with such a wonderful organization on what we consider to be one of the most valuable events within the RMWB. We believe the many experiences and knowledge-sharing sessions included in this unique festival are something that should be cherished by all participants who have the opportunity to attend, and we look forward to seeing everyone there.” 

The ATC Cultural Festival will feature numerous workshops putting a spotlight on Indigenous Knowledge Keepers, language speakers, artists, and craftsmanship. Indigenous artists interested in applying to provide a workshop or presentation at the festival can submit their application now at https://www.atcculturalfestival.ca/call-for-artists. The application process will close on March 31, 2023.
