For the past 20 years, Cassandra Marcel, a First Nation woman from Fort Chipewyan, has been creating artwork that celebrates her Dene heritage. Her journey into this art form began when she discovered her great-grandmother's beads and asked her mother to teach her how to bead. This learning process became a family affair, filled with storytelling and shared experiences. Through beading, Cassandra not only expresses her artistic vision but also maintains a connection to her great-grandmother and those around her.
